Richard Schultz for Knoll White 'Petal' Coffee Table

Sale price$4,400.00

Richard Schultz for Knoll, 'petal' coffee table, aluminum, steel, polyurethane, United States, design 1960

This petal coffee or cocktail table is designed by Richard Schultz in 1960 for Knoll Furniture. This side table is part of a larger Petal Table series which won the design award from Industrial Design Magazine in 1961. This series was specifically designed to accompany the ‘Diamond’ chairs by Harry Bertoia for Knoll. Schultz was inspired by the plant Queen Anne’s Lace which is truly evident in the flower-like top and elegant pedestal aluminum and steel base. The table is a true classic yet at the same time is very vibrant and playful. There is no way this organic and flower like table will ever bore.

Knoll International was founded in New York by the 26-year-old German Hans Knoll (1914-1955) in 1938. Hans' father, Walter Knoll, was a true modernist and furniture manufacturer who had a reputation for quality. When Hans Knoll died at a young age his wife Florence Knoll took over and under her influence the company flourished and created its best designs. She designed and led the company where she cooperated with talented designers such as Eero Saarinen, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Richard Schultz and Harry Bertoia.

Please note that the table is in fair condition with visible signs of wear and stains. Restoration is possible before shipping by our experienced craftsman and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier.
