Postmodern Set of Four Armchairs with Vibrant Yellow Frame

Sale price$1,800.00

Set of four armchairs, lacquered wood, leatherette, Europe, 1980s

This exuberant set of chairs are inspired by the Memphis group, an international collective of designers and artists founded by the Italian Ettore Sottsass (1917-2007). Their furniture is characterized by an unusual aesthetic of asymmetrical shapes in bright and bold colors and an unconventional combination of materials. The construction is based on sharp angles and diagonal lines that underline the essence of the design. The round shaped holes are in contrast with the sharp angled form of the frame, creating this disharmonic look which makes these items even have more visual excitement. Notable detail is how the back runs over into the back legs in a sculptural manner, developing in an expressive triangle that serves as armrests. The artistry of these chairs makes sure that it can be placed as a visual statement in the room.

Kindly note that these chairs are in good, used condition.
