Pia Manu Hand Crafted Coffee Table with Natural Stone Mosaic and Iron

Sale price$21,500.00

Pia Manu, coffee table, forged iron, ceramic and natural stone, Belgium, 1960s.

This unique, handmade piece with cut and forged iron frame is designed in the workshop of Pia Manu. Interesting details are the rough edges of the iron arches and the artistically fragmented mosaic inlay of natural stone, adding a haptic and graphical visualization to the design. The combination of the stone top and the architectural, arched legs results in a brutalist look. On the side of the table is a small ceramic stamp that shows 'Pia Manu'.

Pia Manu is a workshop from Ingelmunster, Belgium. Here, amongst others, Jules Dewaele and his son Koen Dewaele designed several design pieces during the 1960s. Pia Manu is still working along similar lines, with natural materials such as stone and travertine combined with ceramics. The ceramic tables are commonly known and these are bought at Amphora.
