Niels Otto Møller Set of Four Dining Chairs in Teak and Leather

Sale price$5,800.00

Niels Otto Møller, set of four dining chairs, model 78, teak, leather, Denmark, 1960s.

A beautiful dining set designed by Danish Niels Otto Møller. Carved from the rich, lustrous grain of teak wood, these chairs stand as tributes to Møller's mastery of organic forms and meticulous attention to detail. Each curve and contour speaks of a thoughtful harmony between nature's inherent beauty and the designer's vision for seamless functionality.
As embodiments of Scandinavian minimalism, these chairs embody a sense of understated sophistication, their clean lines and unadorned surfaces speaking volumes about the elegance found in simplicity.

Niels O. Møller (1920-1982) completed his apprenticeship in cabinetmaking in 1939 and went to the Århus School of Design thereafter. In 1944, whilst just being 24 years old, he founded his own furniture production company: JL Møllers Møbelfabrik. At that time, the company was nothing more than a small workshop in Århus. Møller functions both as the head of design and lead the workshop. When demand for his furniture grew, he expanded his workshop. Important for Møller's practice and design is the fact that all his designs were made in his own company. Even after his death, his products were solely made in JL Møllers Møbelfabrik that was at that time taken over by his two sons Jorgen Henrik and Jens Ole who still run the company up to this day. Niels O. Møllers practice and aesthetics became quintessential for Danish design: elegant, soft curves combined with functionality and durability.
