Giuseppe Rivadossi Sizable Sideboard in Stained Oak

Sale price$9,750.00

Giuseppe Rivadossi, sideboard, stained oak, Italy, 1960s

This striking sideboard by Giuseppe Rivadossi pleases the eye by all means. Rivadossi, an Italian sculptor and furniture designer, is known for his hand-carved wooden designs that combine a lively surface with organic, architectural volumes. Since a young age, Rivadossi creates furniture and decorative objects that focus on the architectural aspect of structures in wood.

This exceptional sideboard features high level of craftsmanship in woodwork. The frame of the doors are composed of beautifully horizontal and vertical lines, adding a rhythmic and haptic surface to the front. This design offers plenty of storage space, not only behind the doors, but also the upper part is accompanied with four drawers. The design convinces visually through the well-balanced appearance and stabile construction accomplished by the structural arrangement of forms that have a clearly defined structure, which are artistically pleasing.

Giuseppe Rivadossi (1935) was born in Monteclana di Nave, Italy, where he still lives and works. At a young age, Rivadossi's path begins with wood carving, with works reflecting on his poetic idea of living. In 1962 Rivadossi took over the carpentry founded in 1920 by his father Clemente, which he transformed into an atelier, or rather a creative workshop. Eventually, Rivadossi and collaborators established 'Officina Rivadossi' in 1976 where he started the manufacture of wooden objects and unique modern furniture.
