This dining room set contains one table, a bench and, four chairs. This set, with its solid and grand appearance, is designed by Italian designer Giovanni Michelucci (1891-1990) as part of the 'Torbecchia' series. The design is based on a solid construction featuring strong, geometrical shapes and sharp edges, which contribute to its architectural appearance. The table and bench are built the same, but differ in function. Both contain a rectangular top that rests on four tapered legs. Furthermore, the wood shows a striking texture by means of the walnut’s properties, adding a visual excitement and a sense of nature. The dining chairs have an open construction that adds extra air and transparency to the quite solid set. The seat is covered up in rush created by using a weaving technique where long, dried grass-like vegetation is used. In absence of decorative details, the design convinces visually through the well-balanced appearance and the stabile construction. This delicate set truly intensifies the experience of sitting itself and is a standout in any modern room. The table is signed on the right outer corner with 'G. Michelucci'.
