Arne Vodder for Sibast Pair of Armchairs in Teak and Beige Upholstery

Sale price$4,400.00

Arne Vodder for Sibast, pair of armchairs, Denmark, 1960s

A design by Arne Vodder dating back to the 1960s, crafted in Denmark. The chair embodies a simplistic and understated aesthetic, characterized by gentle curved lines and rounded details in its design. Notably, the armrests feature a distinctive shape that broadens towards the back. The backrest, with a graceful incline, seamlessly transitions into the rear legs at a diagonal angle. The teak framework imparts a warm tone with natural grain patterns, complemented by the beige upholstery.

Arne Vodder (1926-2009) should be named among the most influential Scandinavian Midcentury designers, although he is not as well-known as for instance Hans Wegner or Arne Jacobson. Once a student of famous furniture designer Finn Juhl at Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, who later became his friend and business partner. Vodder started out as an architect who designed low-cost housing, later on, he began designing furniture. Although his designs are anything but low-quality, his aim for functional design that could be used by all remained important. He designed amongst others for Fritz Hansen & Sibast.
